Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.5-1.6 m high, fronds 1-pinnatifid; pinnae with orange glands; sori forming interrupted zigzag near margin. Fl. Jun to Aug. Black peaty sand or alluvial soil. Near swamps, creeks, in vine thickets.
