Perennial, grass-like or herb, 0.3-1.2 m high, leaf sheath with long straight stiff hairs, lemma deeply and narrowly lobed. Fl. green-purple, Oct to Dec or Jan to May. Shallow & skeletal soils, alluvium, stony clayey loam, coarse sandy soils. Gullies, hills, ranges, outcrops, sandplains, creek beds.
