Rhizomatous, perennial, herb or (fern), 0.02-0.3 m high, aquatic or amphibious; leaflets 4; peduncle of sporocarp 1.5-10 times longer than sporocarp. Fl. Sep. Red sand or clay loam. In claypans, waterholes, rivers and swamps.
