Rhizomatous, perennial, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.3-1.2 m high. Fl. yellow-brown, Aug to Dec or Jan to Mar. White or grey sand, mud, saline silt, sandy clay. Swamps, drains, brackish river edges, salt marshes.
