Rosetted perennial, herb, 0.15-0.5 m high, Leaves tufted, linear, (8-) 14-35 cm long, 1-1.8 mm wide, apex acute to mucronate, margin involute, glabrous. Membraneous scale leaves present at base of mature leaves. Scape with glandular and pilose hairs. Inflorescence cymose. Fl. white-cream, Aug to Nov. Sand, sandy loam, granite. Hillslopes, dunes, plains. Forest, woodland, shrubland, heath.
