Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.05-0.7 m high, fruiting axis not winged; glumes 1.3-1.7 mm long, emarginate; stamens (2-)3. Fl. green-yellow/brown, Feb to Aug. Brown or red sand, red loam, alluvium. In claypans, along drainage lines and watercourses.
