Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.1-0.2 m high, glumes 2.5-3 mm long; style triquetrous, 3-branched; nut 3-angled, with 7-10 transverse ridges. Fl. brown, Mar to Jul. Red sand on sandstone.
