Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), (0.01-)0.02-0.2(-0.32) m high, spikelets angular, with rigid boat-shaped, incurved glumes; stamens 3; style 3-branched. Fl. green/yellow-brown, Jan to Feb or Jul to Dec. Grey or black sand, red sandy loam, clay, sandy clay, granite. Winter-wet depressions, along watercourses, granite outcrops.
