Tufted annual, grass-like or herb (sedge), 0.035-0.4 m high, glumes spirally arranged; nut 3-angled, elongate, enclosed in 2 translucent scales. Fl. green-brown, Jan to Aug. Sand, sandy loam, mud, sandstone. Along watercourses, rockholes, claypans.
