Herb or shrub, 0.9-5 m high. Fl. yellow, Apr to Jun. Sandy, black soils. Along rivers & creeks.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, continuous with stem, 70-150 mm long, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, leaflets 30-40, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present but early deciduous ( only visible on youngest leaves ), 5 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 7-9 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles present but early deciduous, 2-3.5 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 5-7 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribbed; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 18-20 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; claws present; standard 18-20 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 13-15 mm long, not auriculate, keel 16-20 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; style 13-20 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 130-200 mm long, 4-5 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, glabrous, beaked. Flowers in April, May and June. Occurs in the Northern Botanical Province, in the Northern Kimberley, Victoria Bonaparte, Central Kimberley, Ord-Victorian-Plain and Dampierland IBRA regions.
