Scientific Description

Twining or climbing plants, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 22-100 mm long, 5-25 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins; margins dentate; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Pedicel present, 4-5.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent or present but early deciduous. Calyx 9.5-12 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 15-20 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, pink, red or orange, with some yellow, pink, red or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 12-18 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 11-17 mm long, not auriculate, keel 10-11 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, hairy at least in part. Stamens ten; anthers 0.8-1 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5-8.5 mm long. Ovary hairy or glandular; style 7-10.5 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in August, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest and Warren IBRA regions.
