Erect or prostrate annual or perennial, herb or shrub, to 2 m high. Fl. pink-purple-white, Mar to Aug. Sandy or basaltic soils. Floodplains.

Scientific Description

Erect or prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like) or herb. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 15(-30) mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 8.5-10 mm long, without glands, ribbed. Pedicel present, 1-2.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present but early deciduous, 1.5-4 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 2.5-4 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla multicoloured, mostly pink or purple, with some pink or purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 5-8 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 2.5-4.5 mm long, auriculate, keel 2.5-4.5 mm long, not beaked, auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen. Fruit 7-8 mm long, 3-3.2 mm wide, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, hairy, with simple hairs. Flowers in March, April, May, June, July and August. Occurs in the Northern Botanical Province, in the Northern Kimberley and Victoria Bonaparte IBRA regions.
