Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, herb. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands present. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 30-85 mm long, 7-20 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins dentate; tubercles absent; pustules or glands present. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 4-10 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 0.6-2 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 7-7.2 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands present. Corolla 10-12.5 mm long, multicoloured, mostly pink or purple, with some pink or purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws absent; standard 10-11.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 10-11 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.3-0.4 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath with one free stamen, 9.5-10 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 10.5-11 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit indehiscent and splitting into sections (schizocarps), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in August. Occurs in the Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Pilbara, Gibson Desert, Central Ranges and Nullarbor IBRA regions.
