Erect, open shrub, 0.15-0.6 m high. Fl. yellow & red, Sep to Oct. Dry white to yellow sand & brown sandy clay, laterite. Rocky hillsides, vallleys, slopes, plains, gravel pit.
Scientific Description
Shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 5.8-25 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with recurved margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, leaflets 3(-5), pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, stalked; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 1-5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 2.5-4 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 8-10 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 11-14 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow or red, with some yellow or red spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10-12 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9.5-10.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 9-11 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 1.3-1.5 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 4.5-8 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 7-9.7 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in September and October. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Geraldton Sandplains and Avon Wheatbelt IBRA regions.
