Spreading, hairy herb, 0.15-1 m high. Fl. yellow, Mar to Oct. Red-orange sand/clay, limestone, ironstone, sandstone. Exposed rocky areas, valleys, open sandplains, creek banks, levees, paddocks.

Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, herb. Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 10-25 mm long, 4-8 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 2-3 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 2.5-3 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 7-8 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 10-11.5 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; claws present; standard 7-7.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6.5-7 mm long, not auriculate, keel 6-7.5 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 3.5-5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in March, April, May, June, July, August, September and October. Occurs in the Northern and Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Great Sandy Desert, Pilbara, Little Sandy Desert, Gibson Desert, Northern Kimberley, Victoria Bonaparte, Central Kimberley, Ord-Victorian-Plain, Tanami and Dampierland IBRA regions.
