Shrub, to 0.5 m high. Fl. yellow/red, Sep. Gravelly clay with laterite.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 3-9 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, glabrous, terete; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 1-2.5 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present but early deciduous, 1-1.2 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 5-6 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 7.2-11 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow or red, with some yellow or red spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 6.8-10 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 6-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 5-7 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.5-0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 2.5-5.2 mm long. Ovary stipitate or sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 1.2-2 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in September. Occurs in the Eremaean and South-West Botanical Province, in the Coolgardie, Avon Wheatbelt, Jarrah Forest, Mallee and Esperance IBRA regions.
