Erect shrub, 0.1-0.8 m high. Fl. yellow, Jul to Dec. White or yellow sand, sandy clay or loam, laterite. Sandplains, winter-wet depressions.

Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, spiny at least in part, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, opposite or whorled, not continuous with stem, 4.5-7 mm long, 0.4-1 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins or flat with recurved margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 2.5-3 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent. Calyx 9.5-14 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 12-14 mm long, uniformly coloured, yellow; claws present; standard 11.5-12 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 9-10.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 10-11 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 1.2-1.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 6.5-8 mm long. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; style 7.5-9.5 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 7-10 mm long, 4.8-5 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in July, August, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Geraldton Sandplains, Jarrah Forest, Mallee and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
