Erect slender or sprawling shrub, 0.1-0.5(-0.9) m high. Fl. pink-blue-purple, Sep to Dec. Sandy soils, gravelly soils. Sandplains, lateritic ridges, granite outcrops.

Scientific Description

Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 15-30 mm long, glabrous, strongly recurved, appearing terete but with one or two grooves below; tubercles absent, leaflets 15-19, pinnately arranged, terminal leaflet present, sessile; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 5-10 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles present and persistent, 1.2-1.6 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 7-8 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 10-10.5 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow or pink, with some yellow or pink spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 9-10 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 7-9.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 8-8.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 1-1.2 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 5-7.4 mm long. Ovary stipitate or sessile or subsessile, glabrous; style 7-7.4 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 9-9.5 mm long, 7-7.6 mm wide, stipitate or sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, glabrous, not beaked. Flowers in September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest, Mallee, Warren and Esperance IBRA regions.
