Erect, silver-grey shrub, 1-4 m high, with flattened stems. Fl. yellow/yellow-orange, Mar to Sep. Sand, sandstone. Plains, rock crevices.
Scientific Description
Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, hairy; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 30-60 mm long, 5-8 mm wide, glabrous, flat with flat margins or flat with incurved margins (conduplicate); margins entire or dentate; tubercles absent, 1-3.5; pustules or glands absent. Stipules apparently absent even from the youngest leaves. Pedicel present, 1.5-4 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 1-3 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 9-12 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 10-15 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow or orange, with some yellow or orange spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 9-12 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 8-10 mm long, not auriculate, keel 7-11.5 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.8-1 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 7.5-8.5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, hairy or glandular; style 10-13 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), stipitate or sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, not beaked. Flowers in March, April, May, June, July, August and September. Occurs in the Northern Botanical Province, in the Northern Kimberley IBRA regions.
