Prostrate to semi-prostrate annual or perennial, herb, 0.02-0.3 m high, 0.3-2 m wide. Fl. yellow & orange/yellow & brown, Apr to Nov. Red sandy soils, clayey soils. Stream & river banks, edges of lakes & pools, claypans, rocky outcrops.
Scientific Description
Twining or climbing plants. Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, compound, alternate, not continuous with stem, 10-15 mm long, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent, palmately arranged, terminal leaflet present, sessile; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves, 3.2-5.2 mm long, without glands, ribless. Pedicel present, 4 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 3-4 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 4-5 mm long, not accrescent, glabrous, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 7-14 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, orange or brown, with some yellow, orange or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 9-11 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 8-10.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 9-10 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.6-0.8 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short), 6-10 mm long. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; style 10-11 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit 17-28 mm long, 4-5 mm wide, glabrous. Flowers in April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November. Occurs in the Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Carnarvon, Gascoyne, Little Sandy Desert and Murchison IBRA regions.
