Shrub, 0.25-1 m high. Fl. yellow/orange & red/brown, Sep to Dec or Jan. Grey/white sand. Plains.
Scientific Description
Prostrate,spreading or scrambling, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, continuous with stem, 3-17 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, strongly incurved, appearing terete but grooved above; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 2.5-3 mm long, hairy. Bracteoles present and persistent, 4 mm long, hairy, not striate. Calyx 5.5-7 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 8-9 mm long, multicoloured, mostly yellow, red, orange or brown, with some yellow, red, orange or brown spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 7-8.5 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 7-7.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 6.5-8 mm long, beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.7 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments free (or united at the very base), 4.5-5.5 mm long. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 9.5-11 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, not beaked. Flowers in January, September, October, November and December. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Mallee, Warren and Esperance IBRA regions.
