Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems flattened, not spiny, glabrous; pustules or glands absent. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 25-45 mm long, 5-10 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Stipules present and persistent to older leaves. Pedicel present, 5-6 mm long, glabrous. Bracteoles present and persistent, 1.8-2.6 mm long, glabrous, not striate. Calyx 5-7 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 11.5-16 mm long, multicoloured, yellow, mostly brown or purple, with some brown or purple spots, streaks or blotches; claws present; standard 10-13 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 10-11 mm long, auriculate, keel 9.5-11 mm long, not beaked, auriculate, glabrous. Stamens ten; anthers 0.5-0.8 mm long, at two different levels (filaments alternately long and short); filaments united in an open sheath, 7.5-11.5 mm long. Ovary stipitate, glabrous; style 10-11.3 mm long, glabrous, not bearded, terete. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 30 mm long, 9 mm wide, stipitate, not constricted between the seeds, flat or compressed, glabrous, beaked. Flowers in August and September. Occurs in the South-West Botanical Province, in the Jarrah Forest and Swan Coastal Plain IBRA regions.
