Scientific Description

Erect, shrub, spindly shrub (broom-like). Stems terete, not spiny, glabrous. Leaves or phylloclades clearly present, simple, alternate, not continuous with stem, 8-20 mm long, 4-6 mm wide, hairy, with simple hairs, flat with flat margins; margins entire; tubercles absent; pustules or glands absent. Calyx 8-9 mm long, not accrescent, hairy, with simple hairs, ribless; pustules or glands absent. Corolla 12 mm long, multicoloured, orange, mostly red; claws present; standard 10-12 mm long, glabrous, not auriculate, wings 8-10.5 mm long, not auriculate, keel 10-12 mm long, not beaked, not auriculate, glabrous. Ovary sessile or subsessile, hairy or glandular; style 10-11 mm long, hairy or glandular towards the base, not bearded. Fruit dehiscent (a pod or follicle), 20-25 mm long, 9-10 mm wide, sessile or subsessile, not constricted between the seeds, round in cross-section, hairy, with simple hairs, not beaked. Flowers in July, August and September. Occurs in the Eremaean Botanical Province, in the Gascoyne and Little Sandy Desert IBRA regions.
